Multan Sultan Defending Champions Make it to Their 2nd Consecutive PSL Final

Multan Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars by 28 qualifiers to advance to their second straight PSL final. After facing Islamabad or Peshawar in the first eliminator, Lahore will have a second opportunity to grow as a semifinal team against the winner of that matchup.

It seemed like a good idea for Multan to bat first against Lahore in the first few innings. On a slow pitch, Mohammad Rizwan was not at his best, scoring at a rate that was well below average. A half-century from him and a half-century from Rilee Rossouw helped Multan reach a respectable total of 163/2.

After losing early wickets, Lahore also got off to a bad start. Against Imran Tahir, Lahore relied on Fakhar Zaman, who scored his eighth half-century of the season. Lahore’s run-chase was dented by Multan’s back-to-back wickets. Multan defeated Lahore by a score of 135/9 in the end.

The Player of the match, Shahnawaz Dahani, was hailed for his outstanding performance. Lahore’s batsmen were completely outwitted by him as he finished with figures of 3/19 off his four overs.

Pre-match

The Pakistan Super League 7 qualifier pits Lahore Qalandars against Multan Sultans. On Wednesday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. PKT, the two teams will face off at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Pre-Match Analysis

At Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans will go head-to-head for a place in the final of the PSL 7 tournament. A trip to the championship game is a must for both of these teams, who have played superbly throughout the match.

The Multan Sultans are currently the tournament’s best team. They made tournament history by becoming the first team to win nine games in a row during the group stage. Lahore Qalandars, their only opponent, handed them their lone loss this season.

A second consecutive final appearance for Multan is their goal for this season.
In contrast, Lahore will be disappointed by their Super Over defeat to Peshawar Zalmi. They will be aiming to bounce back quickly and reach their second final in the PSL, despite their loss in the semis. Lahore will enter the match as heavy favourites because of the support they will receive from the home crowd.

Both teams are expected to make lineup adjustments. Abdullah Shafique will likely replace Sohail Akhtar for Lahore, while Tim David’s COVID-19 rule will force Multan to make a substitution. There’s a good chance that Sohaib, Johnson, and Abbas will replace Tim David, Amir, and Rumman.

Date and time of the game: February 23, 2022, 7:30 p.m. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is the PKT’s home game site.

X-Factor

Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi is among the best in the world. For Lahore to break Multan’s solid top order, they will need Shaheen to be at his best.

So far in the tournament, Mohammad Rizwan has been flawless. To advance to the championship game, Multan will need him to maintain his excellent form and hit another match-winning blow.
