Target Killing Incident Reported at Islamabad’s Busiest Highway in Broad Daylight in 2022

Unknown assailants reportedly opened fire on a vehicle on one of Islamabad’s busiest highways in broad daylight earlier today, killing one person.

According to details, the incident occurred beneath the bridge of the Zero Point Interchange, which connects Faisal Avenue and the Islamabad Expressway.

Rescue teams, as well as the Inspector General (IG) of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, Muhammad Ahsan Younas, and other senior officials rushed to the scene.

While the victim’s body was being transported to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced dead, ICT Police forensic teams gathered evidence from the crime scene.

According to Ahsan Younas, IG ICT Police, an FIR has been filed against unidentified attackers, and further investigation is underway. The IG emphasized the importance of using all available resources to track down the attackers as soon as possible.

Targeted killings like this one are uncommon in Islamabad. Certainly, today’s incident has raised many concerns about the operational readiness of ICT Police patrolling squads.
