Babar Azam, Pakistan’s all-around captain, is regarded as one of the best batters across all formats. Pakistan won the ODI series against Australia at home under his captaincy, and he set a number of records during the series.
The right-handed batter is ranked first in both white-ball formats and fifth in Test cricket. Mohammad Kaif, a former Indian cricketer, believes that despite his outstanding performances, he is underappreciated. Babar was also chosen by Kaif as Asia’s best batter.
“Babar Azam has been playing great and consistently, he isn’t appreciated enough for his performances, but he has become a priceless star for Pakistan,” Kaif said.
In response to a question about Pakistan’s team talent, the former cricketer stated, “Pakistan cricket has real talent, Babar Azam is there.” Shaheen Afridi is someone I like, and he’s been doing well.”
It is worth noting that in the recently concluded series against Australia, Babar broke the records of many legendary batters, including Mohammad Yousaf, Hashim Amla of South Africa, and Sachin Tendulkar of India.
The 41-year-old tweeted after Babar’s scintillating knock against Australia in the second ODI: “Babar has skills, technique, and jigar.” When you’re chasing a big total, this is the ideal combination.”
Meanwhile, Kaif named Babar Azam and Jasprit Bumrah as his current best Asian players.
