The newly formed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) government is considering a total ban on all social media platforms in the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured senior journalists during a meeting that the PML N government will not pass any legislation that will harm the media industry.
However, social media has been causing problems for governments all over the world, and Pakistan is no exception, according to the premier, who also stated that the government will investigate ways to ban social media platforms in Pakistan, according to Express.
Furthermore, PM Shehbaz lamented that state institutions have been subjected to unwarranted criticism, warning the masses against perpetuating derogatory trends against state institutions.
The development comes as social media users continue to run venomous trends against the newly formed government, which is struggling to deal with the criticism.
