The District Education Officer of Tehsil Dunya Pur has suspended a primary school teacher for posting and sharing objectionable content on social media platforms about government institutions.
“Mr. Umar Daraz C-IV Government Girls Primary School 311/WB Tehsil Dunya Pur is now suspended from government service with immediate effect on account of misuse of social media against government institution,” according to the suspension notice.
Authorities are yet to reveal any details about the case against the perpetrator, who allegedly posted and shared disparaging remarks about the judiciary, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Umar Ata Bandial, PDM chief, Moulana Fazlur Rehman, and Amir Liaquat Hussain.
Similarly, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained and then arrested at least five people in different cities last week for disparaging security institutions on social media. It is worth noting that most of the detentions reported thus far have occurred in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar.
