NAB Claims Recovery of Ill-Gotten Rs. 584 Billion

NAB Claims Recovery of Ill-Gotten Rs. 584 Billion in 2022

According to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), it has recovered Rs. Five hundred eighty-four billion in the last four years.

In response to the allegations leveled against its four-year performance, NAB issued a statement. The bureau refuted news reports alleging that the NAB had spent Rs. 18 billion. According to a NAB statement, Rs. 26 billion was distributed to 177,408 people affected by housing society scams.

NAB stated that a total of Rs. Four hundred sixty billion was recovered from the owners of a housing society, and that its efforts resulted in a £140 million recovery in London. It went on to say that a sizable portion of the money was given to governments and institutions with records.

The statement revealed that legal action is being taken against the ‘baseless allegations,’ and it was clarified that an audit had been conducted with the assistance of the Auditor General of Pakistan until June 2021. The NAB has adequately addressed the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) concerns about all recoveries. All of the accused are on trial in appellate and trial courts, with 1,405 people convicted so far.
