On the orders of Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to connect the Rawalpindi-Islamabad and Peshawar Mor-airport metro bus services. The department has begun building a metro bus bay near Faiz Ahmed Faiz station for the airport’s fleet of Metro buses.
The station is located 30 kilometers from Islamabad International Airport, close to the excise and taxation office and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) office (IIA).
The PM’s office issued a notice to Metro Bus Authority ordering the merger of two services. It emphasized that travelers from the Secretariat or Saddar can now travel up to Peshawar Morr, NUST, or IIA, or vice versa. The CDA intends to complete the Faiz Ahmed Faiz metro bay project by Sunday, April 24, 2022.
On Monday, Sharif inaugurated the Peshawar Mor to IIA Metro Bus Service. During Ramadan, riders will be able to use Metro buses for free.
According to a CDA official, the bus service serves an average of 8,000 passengers per day. He added that 9,900 passengers used the service on Tuesday, and that the number of users will increase in the coming days as on-site office work resumes and universities reopen.
