“Every act of kindness is charity,” said Allah’s Messenger, Prophet Muhammad SAW. 6021 – Sahih Bukhari Keeping the Sunnah of kindness and empathy alive, the Alkhidmat Foundation operates as a non-profit organisation that solely provides services to humanity in any way possible.
Alkhidmat has been involved in humanitarian work since Pakistan’s inception in 1947, but it only became fully operational in 1990. Alkhidmat’s vision is to serve humanity without discrimination. When dealing with people, human dignity takes precedence. The motto is appropriate for the real cause.
Areas of Service
Alkhidmat is currently working in seven areas, including orphan care, health services, disaster management, community service, education, and clean water, as well as microfinance, also known as Mawakhat.
Orphan Care and Alkhidmat
Unfortunately, orphans are one of the most neglected segments of our materialistic society. Alkhidmat is a ray of hope for these dreamy eyes. Alkhidmat currently operates two orphan care programmes in the country, the Orphan Family Support Program and Aghosh Homes. With 18 operational Aghosh homes, Alkhidmat is currently assisting approximately 17867 orphans. Aside from that, 4 Agosh dwellings are under construction, three are being extended, and 9 Agosh places are in the works.
Due to limited accommodation space, Alkhidmat provides all types of services for orphans at their homes and through the sponsorship scheme. Donors cover the costs of food, medical treatment, and education under the sponsorship programme. This programme also ensures that children do not lose their motherly love or their homes while accessing the facilities.
Alkhidmat provides a homely environment through Aghosh homes for children who do not have access to homes and related facilities, ensuring their growth as individuals and responsible citizens.
Members of the community The Aghosh Home is in charge of the upbringing and training of orphaned children, as well as their education, health, mental and physical development. Alkhidmat’s motivation to be a beacon of hope for the little stars grows with each passing day. The story of another little angel, Irfan Ullah, is told in the link below.
What is AlKhidmat up to This Ramadan?
The entire Ramadan Alkhidmat doubles its efforts and strives to make the most of the blessed month. Food, as a basic necessity of life, is critical for everyone, but unfortunately, not everyone has full access to it. To ensure adequate food supplies during Ramadan, Alkhidmat has distributed food packages (Ration) to needy and deserving families, as it has done every year. The Ramadan package includes basic food items such as flour, rice, sugar, oil, pulses, tea, and other essentials.
Aside from that, Alkhidmat organises Iftar and Suhoor for those in need throughout the holy month. Asian Iftar Program is also operational, as it is every year, and it operates without regard to socioeconomic status. Volunteers are stationed at key points throughout the city, distributing dates and water to anyone who was unable to reach their homes before or at the exact time of the iftar.
On our part, we should all reflect the essence of the month and be as empathetic as we can. At the end of the day, kindness and empathy always triumph. Be a part of the good cause by supporting Alkhidmat with your generous donations.
