TikToker Dolly Flipsides Margalla Fire Video Criticism
TikToker Dolly created a counter narrative to the ‘propaganda’ created against her on social networking and instant messaging apps over the last two days after her video went viral in the context of the Margalla Hill fire incident.
Today, the Tiktoker posted a video in her defence in which she claimed that the locals set the forest on fire. Prior to filming the Tiktok videos, she questioned local faculty about the reason for setting the forest on fire. Locals claimed that they set fire to the forest to kill snakes. She then created a few Tiktok videos, which went viral and sparked backlash. Here’s a link to the video.
Later, the Tiktoker posted a clarification video in which she stated that whatever happened on social media was disappointing for her and that people should know the truth before saying anything. Here’s a video of her explanation.
Dolly first posted a video explaining her story, saying she took a make-up class in Haripur and on the way back to Islamabad, she recorded this video on the highway in which a local explained, “We burn shrubs to prevent indigenous types of snakes and other dangerous animals.”
Fans speculated that she was correct because it was set on fire by local villagers. Some mocked her for her low-quality content. A few fans criticised her for not believing her side of the story. Here’s what people said about her clarification videos.
I am making this video in complete disappointment. Nobody asked me for my side of the version and kept on sharing my video,” Dolly said.
She uploaded a video in which Dolly said, “You can clearly see in this video the billboard indicates the place which is motorway and not the National Park Kohsar. Listen to the person in the video carefully so that you know the reality. I expect justice.
