You can learn everything you need to know about keyword research from this guide, even if you’ve never gotten it before.

Today, I’m here to teach you about:

  1. What is the purpose of keyword research, and how does it differ from other forms of
  2. Researching keywords is critical, but why is it important?
  3. What are the advantages of conducting a keyword study?
  4. What is the process of conducting keyword research?

Begin at the beginning…

Are you familiar with the term “Keyword Research?”

The process of finding keywords that will drive targeted traffic to your company is known as “keyword research.” Identifying how your target audience finds a website like yours is a significant part of this process.

Let me break it down for you,

Many people use search engines like Google and Duckduckgo to find their questions.

We expect the search engine to provide a solution on the first page of search results, or SERP (Search engine results page).

Researching keywords helps us find the phrases, words, and queries that most people are searching for on search engines.

A company or blog can benefit from increased traffic by better understanding the types of questions people (in the mass) use search engines.

Ads on platforms like Google Ads or Facebook Ads can promote your own or your clients’ websites using the exact keywords (queries).

In the jargon;

A keyword research goal is to identify those topics and ideas that your target audience uses and assign a business value to them. To put it another way, keyword research helps you discover the questions and queries your customers are asking. It gives you an advantage in communicating in a way that they can easily understand.

Let’s look at an example to understand better what I mean:

To illustrate this point, let’s say a newlywed father is looking to purchase a baby stroller. Searching on Google for “best baby stroller” yields the best results for him. To put it briefly:

Thanks to Google’s intelligent search engine, he can ask the right question because it auto-populates many common queries.

Depending on the father’s location and knowledge, he may choose to stick with his original query or go with Google’s suggestion.

These queries are being asked by millions of people worldwide, and now search engines are keeping track.

It’s possible to see the most frequently asked questions and the number of times each has been requested using keyword research (ex: 30 days).

As a business owner, you can use these stats to figure out which of these questions you should answer on your website, which will help users find your website and the answer.

More traffic from search engines results in more direct sales, advertising sales, or even affiliate sales for the website’s owners due to the solution.

This is where a little keyword research comes in handy.

You can make the most of your hard work by driving significant traffic to your blog or business with a bit of forethought.

The term “On-Page SEO” refers to the practice of enhancing a website’s visibility in search results.

But today, we’ll focus on keyword research and how to use it to your advantage.

Keyword research will allow you to get a taste of the business in a matter of days. To the extent that you’re combining data with your feelings, you’ll be able to do more work.

Let’s take a look at an example of this…

A few paragraphs ago, I mentioned a father looking for a “Stroller” for his young son. Let’s say your company specialises in the sale of baby strollers. (You could be anyone, and your product could take the place of a baby stroller.)

When a parent uses a search engine to look for a solution, keyword research tools can reveal information like the keywords they’re typing in.

“SEMrush” is a search engine optimisation (SEO) tool that displays similar queries with a lot of data, as shown in the results below:

Let’s see if we can figure out what’s happening in this picture. If you are a beginner and don’t understand everything, don’t worry.

When looking for the best baby stroller, this is the question most people are asking themselves. “target keyword” or “Focus keyword” is the phrase that we “target” when doing SEO.
If you want to know how many people are looking for a specific term, you can use this information to estimate the volume. Search data will tell you whether or not a search term is widespread, regardless of how widely you assume it will be used. As you can see in this example, the monthly search volume for two closely related keywords varies significantly.

Stroller: 140 searches per month
More than 30 people search for the best baby stroller every month.
You can use this to see if the keyword trend is going up or down (more people are searching) (fewer people are searching). The term “iPhone 11 Pro” may be popular in 2019-2020, but this term will lose its meaning as a new iPhone model is released. As we progress through our keyword research guide, you’ll be able to grasp this in greater detail.
Keyword difficulty is an important metric that tells you how difficult or easy it will be to rank for a target keyword on Google’s first page. Such queries are evaluated using a variety of factors, including a site’s on-page SEO, backlink profile, domain authority, and other factors. The lower the rank, the more difficult it would be to the position.
Many matrices will be presented to you when you begin keyword research.

Data-driven decisions can be made with the help of keyword research. If you haven’t noticed, the data is the new oil.

Just so we’re clear,

For a better understanding of SEO keywords and queries, please refer to my earlier post on the topic.

Let’s look at some of the advantages of keyword research now.

In what ways is keyword research so important?

Let us attempt to quantify that not all keywords are created equal. The following are some of the ways that keyword research can benefit your business (Blog, e-commerce, service, etc.):

Using keyword research, you can learn about the search terms your intended audience uses to find your product or service. The most popular search engine, Google, is typically used as a starting point.
Getting paid customers from organic search engines like Google, Baidu, and others help you discover untapped queries.
An engaged audience means that you’ll get a lot of comments, shares, or even sales from the audience you’ll be reaching.
Conducting Keyword research regularly will give you a better idea of where the market and your customers are going.
Having a head start on your competitors by incorporating SEO and keywords will give you a significant advantage. You may be able to get a lot of backlinks if you do it correctly in a less competitive niche.
You can save money on PPC by using keywords SEO to bring in free traffic, which a business typically pays for in PPC advertising. To put it another way, an organic search result could save your business a lot of money on digital marketing.
Keyword research can be used to find high CPC keywords, increasing ad revenue significantly with the same amount of effort by marketers and bloggers who rely on Google AdSense or Media.net incomes.
Keyword research has many other advantages, but the ones listed above are the most important.

The following is a little-known fact about keyword research:

Keyword research is often misunderstood as searching only the most popular keywords.

Remove those keywords that will not help your business in any way from your SEO strategy. Furthermore, after discovering profitable keywords, you’ll learn how to prioritise them so that you get the most out of them in the shortest amount of time possible.

As for the specifics, I won’t bore you with them, but if you’re interested, you can check out these two resources:

Using keyword research skills is a good thing because it keeps getting better over time.

It’s time to get down to business with the nuts and bolts of KW research now.

Based on the user’s intent, different kinds of keywords.

If we go back to the “baby stroller” example, we can see that a parent might ask this question with a slightly different implication. For instance:

  • A parent might inquire about how to choose a stroller for their child.
  • In today’s world, a parent wants to know which stroller is the best for their child.
  • Baby strollers are on the shopping list of many parents.
  • There is the possibility that a doctor is using this question in his research.
  • Isn’t it interesting how the same question can have different meanings depending on the context? Search intent is a term for this.

According to the user’s intent, keywords can be subdivided into various types.

The four most typical kinds are as follows:

  1. Keywords that are relevant to a company’s
  2. Keywords with a practical purpose
  3. Keywords that provide helpful information
  4. Keywords for Navigation

These four types of keywords determine which one will have the most significant impact on your earnings. This is also closely related to the content funnel (TOFU, MOFU, BOFU).

There are a few other ways to categorise keywords, such as…

There are a total of :

AKA: Long Tail Keywords The following are some examples of good heading keywords: Long-tail keywords (ex: baby stroller) (Ex: Australia’s best baby stroller)

Keyword research necessitates a few things.
At ShoutDreams, I uniquely conduct keyword research.

For keyword research, you’ll need the following:

Keyword research software, either free or paid.

A list of SEO-competitive domains and businesses or a list of seed words For more information, read on.
creating a list of keywords from seed words or searching for profitable keywords on a competitor’s website
A document (such as Excel or a similar programme) in which the keyword can be captured and cleaned up.
a method for assigning the final set of production keywords ( Creating blog articles, eBooks, video content, product page)

I am using a keyword tracking tool to monitor the position.

This helps you grow organically if you use keyword research as a part of your business marketing strategy.

I use this exact process to generate close to half a million dollars in revenue each year and over 8 million page views. “ShoutMeLoud” is the best example of what can be accomplished through keyword research.

After a decade of practice, I’ve come up with the following steps for keyword research:

Research \sCleanup \sExecute/Delegate \sMonitor \sOptimize
The following five steps will help you conduct thorough keyword research.

Assuming we’re all on the same page now, let’s go ahead and learn about keyword research.

SEO Keyword research can be done in various ways, and here are three of the most popular methods. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular tricks that even a complete newbie can pull off.

Finding keywords that are already working for a competitor or a top site is probably the most straightforward method. This step identifies two or three of the most popular websites in our target market. “Best Baby stroller,” for instance.

These are the top three results from a Google search. It is possible to repeat this process for your target keyword and then use SEMRush, a keyword research tool, to identify the top 3-4 winning websites.

Enter the domain name you found through a Google search into the SEMRush dashboard to see which keywords the domain is currently ranking for.

SEMRush will provide you with a wealth of information, including:

  • Which keyphrase is bringing in the most visitors to a specific website?
  • There is a lot of traffic and a lot of volumes.
  • Where on the website is the most popular page for a particular keyword?
  • SEMrush also lets you filter keywords based on several different criteria. Please let me know in the comments if you require further assistance in this regard.

Within minutes you’ve discovered a treasure chest full of lucrative keywords for your business.

Finding easy wins with the help of Keyword Gap

It’s a technique rarely used in keyword research, but it can help you discover keywords that your competitors are already ranking well for. This is a waste of time for a new website looking for easy targets to capture traffic from.

Check out my earlier guide on Keyword Gap Analysis – Methods and Tools to better understand this method.

In-depth keyword research with the aid of seed words

This is a waste of time for both new and established websites. In comparison to the first two methods, this one takes a lot more time, but it will allow you to find keywords that no one else is targeting.

You can do this by using keyword research tools or even a long tail keyword tool.

We’ll use SEMRush once more to grasp this method better.

Visit SEMrush now.
To use the Keyword Magic Tool, click on it.

Select the primary country you want to target and type in your seed keyword.

Once you click Search, SEMRush will generate many keywords based on your seed keyword in a matter of seconds.

The keywords can be filtered in a variety of ways, for example:

  • The phrase “baby stroller” with the same word order will be included in an exact match. For example, you can type in “buy baby stroller” or “where to buy a baby stroller.”
  • As a result, a broad match will include all possible forms of the words “buy,” “new,” and “order.” As a result, you’ll get results for terms like “buy the newest baby stroller,” “buy baby stroller new,” and “buy a super-new baby stroller in New York,” as well as other variations.
  • Keywords and Phrases That Go Together
For free, you can use the Google Keyword Planner (GKP). There is only one drawback to using Google’s Keyword Planner tool: it was designed for PPC campaigns, not SEO. However, Google’s Keyword Planner is useless if you’re on a tight budget.

Note: I used SEMrush as an example in this guide because it is one of my go-to tools for keyword research. However, similar tools such as KWFinder can achieve the same results.

To get your hands on the primary keyword, you should follow these steps. There are a few things you need to do now that you have the critical piece of information:

Create a group of keywords that are closely related.
New content or product pages can be added to the website’s structure to improve its SEO.
Taking measurements and making adjustments to improve it.
Later guides will cover keyword clustering and putting together an SEO strategy.

Now that you know what keyword research is and how to do it, I hope this guide has been helpful.
