How to Get an International Driving License in Pakistan

An international driving licence can help you with various things, especially if you plan to travel abroad, even for a short time, and here’s how to get one.

Applicants must first obtain valid national driver’s licences from the city traffic police. You can get it from any traffic licencing centre, but keep in mind that an international licence will only be issued by the licencing centre that previously issued the applicant’s corresponding local driving licence.

There is also no waiting period because citizens who have just received their local driver’s licence can apply for the international one the following day.

In Punjab:

Book an Appointment on the Rasta App in Punjab

You are strongly advised to make an appointment with the Punjab IT Board in advance via the Rasta App. The app is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

Applicants can schedule an appointment and choose the nearest licencing centre after filling out the CNIC information and required details. They can choose their preferred time slots and the reason for their visit from a list.

The app can also schedule appointments for everything from getting a learner’s permit to getting a national or international driver’s licence.

The Benefits of Having an International Driver’s License

Because it contains almost all of the individual’s information, an international driver’s licence can also be used to identify many foreign countries. If a person loses their ID card or needs a new one, the international licence can continue with their normal activities while they wait.

However, it is only for a limited time and does not replace the need for a valid ID card, which is especially important in a foreign country with strict laws.

A Quick Visit

Before travelling to another country, Pakistani tourists can apply for an international driver’s licence. It will make renting and driving cars much easier for them.

Unless they have state-issued international driver’s licences, most countries do not allow visitors or foreigners to buy or even drive vehicles. As a result, an international driver’s licence can help you save a lot of money and time by allowing you to drive instead of taking public transportation and paying exorbitant fares for short trips.

Long-term or permanent stays

For nationals who plan to relocate permanently to or stay in a foreign country for an extended period of time, an international driving licence is a must. Such individuals must obtain a permanent driving licence in the country to which they have relocated, but this does not negate the value of the Pakistan-issued international driving licence, which can be useful in various situations.

One of its benefits is that it reduces the number of driving classes that a Pakistani expatriate or immigrant must take as a result of holding a Pakistani driver’s licence.

Furthermore, after obtaining a visa, Pakistanis who relocate to work as heavy transport vehicles (HTV) or taxi drivers must obtain an international driving licence.
